How fast are your servers?

We are connected to one of the UK's best backbones in the heart of London, our network speeds are second to none, if you don't believe us you can try before you buy, we have a "speed test" section on our home page (http://www.itsyourftp.com), download the test binary file from our main storage server.

Will my files be backed up incase of hardware failure?

Yes, we do server backups 3 times a week so if we do suffer from hardware failure we can recover all of you data, so far in our history we have not had to call on the backups as we use the best hardware and RAID systems.

Can i register more than one account?

Yes, you are free to register as many account as you like, you can even register with the same email address and password but you will need to use a unique username for each account registered with us.

Will i be provided with a static IP and hostname?

Yes, once you order has been processed your account will be allocated a server and a static hostname will be provided, this will not change so you can publish your links on forums etc... if you have HTTP (web) access to your webspace.

Are there any bandwidth limits with the service?

No, we do not set any limits on how much you can upload and download in one day,month or year, we will however warn you if your bandwidth usage is unacceptable or we think your usage is affecting other accounts on your allocated server.

What can i store on my FTP space?

The account is your private account and no one else will have access to the account unless you choose to share your username and password, you are free to use the account for whatever purpose you like aslong as it is within our terms and conditions. the server can not be used to store/share warez, music or MP3 pirating, movie or DVD pirating or pictures of a pornographic nature.

Payments

Why does itsyourftp.com use paypal as its primary credit company?

We use paypal as our credit company because its proven itself as the internets number one online payment system, its secure, easy to use and only takes a few minutes to complete the payment and start using your ftp account.

Do i need a paypal account to pay for my ftp services?

No, you do not need a paypal account to buy services from us, once you are forwarded to the payments system paypal will ask you if you already have a paypal account or if you would like to pay using a credit/debit card, they will also give you the option to register an account but remember you do not need to be registered with paypal to complete our checkout system.

Connecting to the FTP service

Once i have registered how long will i have to wait until my FTP space becomes active?

Once you have completed the signup your FTP account will become active within 30 seconds, you will receive an email with the connection details and you will be able to start transfering files to our servers, there is no waiting around.

I have registered but how do i connect to the FTP service to backup/store my files?

Connecting to the FTP service is easy, you will need to download and install an FTP client which is a program that is installed on your computer that you will use to transfer files between you local PC's hard drive and our server. To connect to our servers you will need to know three details; your servers hostname, username and password. All FTP clients differ so we can't give you exact step by step guide of where to enter the connection details but most FTP clients are very easy to use, if you have any problems contact our support team.

Bolt-on Services

What are these bolt-on services all about?

Once you have registered with itsyourftp.com you will have the basic service which is 1gb of FTP space which is available via your FTP client, you will be able to connect with multiple simultaneous connections from any number of locations. You are provided with one login username and password which will give you full read/write access to your webspace. Bolt-on services are additional services available to give you more advanced functionality. Currently we are providing HTTP access bolt-ons which is explained below.

What do i get when i register for the HTTP access bolt-on?

The HTTP access bolt-on will give you the ability to access your FTP space using your web browser, this is an ideal service if you are planning on hosting a website on your webspace or if you plan to share files with others. It is not a good idea to give out your admin username and password to others because they will have access to your account and will be able to delete files, they will also have access to the account control panel and will be able to change account details, the HTTP access bolt-on will give you the ability to share files quickly and easily.

Can i password protect my HTTP access?

Yes, You can configure your HTTP access settings from your account control panel, you are given the option to password protect you HTTP access, you are also provided with 2 read-only username/password sets to give out to friends, this will give them the ability to access your files via HTTP, read-only, they will not be able to login via FTP and delete files because the username and passwords are different to your admin username/password.

I have purchased the HTTP access bolt-on, can i host a website on my FTP space?

Yes, our servers can process HTML files, simply upload you website to your FTP space, put all the files in the root directory (/) and change the home page's file name to index.html.
